Nixie
This is a recent deck that was squishy. The original fiberglass had delaminated from the wood core, which amazingly after 30 years was still fine. You can actually see where the original defective glue was laid down. This glue should have been spread from toe rail to toe rail when the fiberglass was orginally applied in the early 70's. It eventually failed. The owner feared that he needed a new deck and core which was not the case. The fiberglass skin was removed in all defective areas and reapplied. New core was added where needed.

Same vessel after the skins have been reapplied.

Final fairing of the new deck.

The fully finished, non skidded, painted deck.

Being happy, the owner then asked us to move on to the hull. Here it has been stripped of old paint and faired.

The finished, Awl Gripped hull.

March 2011 Yacht Syce
New Oak Frames are steamed, bent, and placed into 1920's 6 meter yacht Syce. the bungs are removed from the hull and the old cracked frames are removed. new frames are grafted into place. New bronze fasteners are inserted from the outside and screwed into place. New bronze supporting plates are also fabricated. if you look closely you can see the older bronze plates which have held up fine over the years on other frames.

The new steamed and bent oak frame prior to installation.

Chief
This owner was not as fortunate. The old deck had to be removed and a new foam core deck had to be laid in place on the pre-existing tabs which you can see here.

The Shields "Chief" with a new foam core deck, new coamings, and a new teak toe rail.

1957 Chris Craft "Sport Utility" Mahogany Runabout
This was perhaps the original SUV. Unfortunately our example was a victim of a fire. This photo shows it being meticulously restored with mahogany planks at our facility.
Poppy 12 1/2' Herreshoff
This refit involves work on the famous Herreshoff 12 1/2' Poppy currently on display at the Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, Rhode Island. Part of the stem and three ribs were replaced with native white oak and two planks in the starboard bow were replaced with northern white cedar, along with other work done to the vessel.
Call Girls 1976 Bruce Kirby Design
This wooden boat was one of the first boats ever built with the West epoxy system. Designed by Bruce Kirby (who graciously advised on the current refit), for the original Quarter Tonner Class, this boat was almost rebuilt from scratch. The deck was replaced and a cut-away transom and bulb keel were designed and added, along with numerous experimental go-fast items. The boat is raced by our own Harbor Supply crew here in Newport and remains more than competitive.

S/Y Knickerbocker"Harbor Supply has done work on both Shamrock V and Endeavour during the ten years that J Class Management managed Endeavour and Shamrock V. They did everything from remove an old desk in Shamrock V's main salon and extending a settee to matching paneling to the grain on Endeavour. Harbor Supply's team has proven that they are meticulous and professional. They aspire to bring perfection to any job they tackle."
Marcia Whitney, Mgr

Farr 40 Diana"We were sailing in the IMS world's last summer in Newport when our stern pulpit broke.... [B]eing late in the afternoon on Saturday, we thought we were [out of luck]. We called Steve at Harbor Supply at 5:00 PM. He picked up the broken pulpit and returned it repaired at 6:00 PM. I was surprised to see Steve walking down the dock so quickly with the repaired part and was even more surprised that he handed it to me in a rag because it was still hot from the welding! That's what I call service! The bill I received was extremely fair considering the day of the week, the time of day we called and the speed of the service. Harbor Supply is a great service for racers when the unexpected happens!"
